I struggled with anxiety and stress from an early age.

Adulting is not always easy. Our nervous systems sit somewhere between fight, flight, and freeze more often than most of us would like to admit. It leads us to make poor decisions, stress out, lie awake at 3am, and feel like we're running on empty even when nothing is technically wrong.

I found breathwork when I was looking for something that actually worked. Not a coping strategy. Not something to manage the symptoms. Something that got underneath them.

One session shifted something I'd been carrying for years. The release was physical. Immediate. And unlike anything I'd experienced through talking, thinking, or trying to logic my way out of how I felt.

I trained as a facilitator because I wanted to give other people that same experience.

What Is Breathwork?

Breathwork is a guided breathing practice that uses conscious, connected breath patterns to shift your physical, emotional, and mental state. Quickly, and often profoundly.

Here's what makes it different from most things people try.

When you're anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck, the standard advice is to think your way through it. Talk about it. Understand it. But your nervous system doesn't respond to logic. It responds to signals from your body, and your breath is the fastest, most direct signal you have.

Breathwork bypasses the thinking mind entirely. It works through the body first. That's why a single session can shift something that months of conversation sometimes can't.

Why it Works

When you're in a state of stress, your body is running on the sympathetic nervous system. This is the fight-or-flight response. Heart rate up, breathing shallow, digestion suppressed, cortisol elevated. Your body is preparing for a threat that, in modern life, rarely goes away.

Specific breathing patterns directly activate the parasympathetic nervous system, the rest-and-digest state. This isn't a metaphor. It's a measurable physiological shift. Heart rate slows. Cortisol drops. Digestion resumes. The mind clears.

The breath is the only function of the autonomic nervous system that you can control consciously. That means it is the most direct lever you have for changing how your body feels, and by extension, how you think, make decisions, and move through your day.

I studied energy and frequency at university before I ever discovered breathwork. When I eventually trained as a facilitator, the science made immediate sense to me. This is not alternative therapy. It is applied physiology.

Who Breathwork Can Help

Breathwork is one of the most versatile tools I know because it works at the level of the nervous system, which means almost everyone has something to gain from it. That said, the people who tend to find it most transformative fall into a few groups.
People carrying stress, anxiety, or overwhelm
If your mind won't stop, you can't switch off, or anxiety has become a constant background hum, breathwork addresses the physiological root of that. Not by suppressing it, but by actually resetting the system that's generating it.
People going through major life transitions
Divorce, grief, career change, becoming a parent, losing someone. The moments where everything feels uncertain and the body holds that tension long after the mind thinks it has processed it. Breathwork creates space for the release that needs to happen.
Busy professionals and high performers
When you're functioning at a high level but running on fumes, breathwork is one of the most efficient resets available. A single session can restore a level of clarity and calm that would otherwise take days of rest to achieve.
People with ADHD, ASD, and neurodiverse conditions
This is something I've seen consistently in my practice and it's worth naming directly. People with ADHD and ASD often find that breathwork offers a kind of regulation that is genuinely difficult to access through other means. The breath gives the nervous system something concrete to follow, and the results, both in session and in daily life afterwards, are frequently significant. Breath directly affects endurance, recovery, and performance. Breathwork training builds conscious awareness of breathing patterns that most athletes never address, and the results in both physical output and mental focus can be considerable.
Anyone who has tried meditation and found it frustrating
Breathwork is not meditation. You are not asked to quieten your mind or observe your thoughts from a distance. You are given a physical practice that does the work for you. People who have never been able to meditate often take to breathwork immediately.

Sometimes the Results Are Unexpected

Most people come to breathwork for anxiety or stress. What they often find is that it reaches things they weren't even consciously aware they needed to address.

Clients have reported relief from physical tension they'd carried for years. Others have experienced emotional releases around things they thought were long resolved. One client found that the persistent ringing in their ears that had been with them for some time stopped after a session.

I can't promise specific outcomes because breathwork works differently for every person. What I can tell you is that the range of what it touches is consistently broader than people expect going in.

Ways to work with me

Private 1:1 Sessions
A fully personalised session tailored to exactly where you are and what you need. 1:1 sessions run for approximately 75 minutes and take you on a real journey. Holly reads the energy of the session as it unfolds and often weaves in sound healing and Reiki alongside the breathwork depending on what comes up.

This is the most powerful format for people going through something significant, or for those who want a depth of personalisation that a group session can't provide.
Online Sessions
Breathwork translates exceptionally well online. If you can't make it to the studio, a Zoom session gives you access to a real, trained facilitator guiding you in real time. This is genuinely different from following a recording or an app. Holly is present, responsive, and adapting the session to you as it happens.

Online 1:1 sessions run for approximately 75 minutes and are available to clients anywhere in New Zealand and beyond.
Corporate or Private Events
Holly runs Corporate or Private Group Sessions, whether it is education around how the breath can help, or a full Breathwork Journey, these sessions can be fully tailored to what you, your friends, or your work team need.
The Weekly Exhale
Holly's weekly live online breathwork session. 22 minutes, every week, from wherever you are. The most accessible way to experience breathwork regularly without rearranging your life around it.

Training and Approach

Holly is a certified Alchemy of Breath facilitator, trained in one of the most respected breathwork lineages in the world. Alchemy of Breath training emphasises trauma awareness, holding safe space, and working intuitively with what arises in a session rather than following a rigid script.

Holly also holds a Bachelor of Science and is a certified coach through the International Coaching Community. The combination of scientific grounding, coaching awareness, and personal lived experience with this work is what shapes how she works with every client.

Her sessions are not formulaic. She brings her full attention to what you need in the moment, and no two sessions are ever the same.
